NATIONAL-LOUIS AND READING
  • NLU's Reading Recovery Center serves as the university training center for the state of Illinois, one of 25 such centers in the U.S.

  • In 1999 NLU made a continued commitment to Reading Recovery by investing in a new, state-of-the-art university training facility at its Wheaton campus.

  • NLU reading and language faculty partnered with Evanston, Ill., school district 65 in an innovative program called "Everybody Reads Fluency Project." Funded by the Illinois State Board of Education, the main goal of the project is to help students in grades K-3 develop reading fluency.

  • NLU's reading department has graduated nearly 900 students since 1972.

  • NLU faculty members became the lead researchers in the development of the Illinois Snapshot of Early Literacy (ISEL) reading assessment, a grant-funded project through the Illinois State Board of Education.

  • NLU department of reading and language faculty include the president of the Illinois Reading Council, past president of the National Reading Conference, a member of the International Reading Association Hall of Fame, the co-editor of the Illinois Reading Journal, the past president of the Chicago Area Reading Association.
NATIONAL-LOUIS AND BUSINESS EDUCATION
  • NLU's College of Management and Business recently received a full 10-year accreditation by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.

  • NLU's MBA program is one of the top 10 MBA programs for enrollment of African-American students.

  • NLU's campus in Nowy Sacz, Poland, has been named the top business school in that country for the seventh consecutive year by Wprost, the top Polish national weekly news magazine.

  • NLU's online MBA program allows you to "attend class" any time that suits your schedule.

  • The Master of Science in Electronic Commerce program from NLU is one of the first degree programs in this field nationwide. It is available online, and can be completed within 18 months.

  • NLU was the first U.S. university to offer the MBA degree in Poland.
NATIONAL-LOUIS AND ADULT EDUCATION
  • NLU offers several accelerated degree completion programs for the working adult: the B.A. in applied behavioral science, the B.S. in management and the B.S. in health care leadership.

  • FOCUS On Completing Undergraduate Studies (FOCUS) is designed for adult learners coming to NLU to complete undergraduate degrees. These accelerated classes conveniently meet only one or two nights a week.

  • NLU students can earn prior college credit toward classes by taking DANTES Subject Standardized Tests, by preparing portfolios or using NLU's credit by proficiency method.

  • NLU offers corporations convenient, accelerated degree programs on-site, on time and online.

  • Instruction is available through the "cohort model" pioneered by National-Louis. 15-20 students take courses together for the entire program and usually meet just one night per week.
