FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Office of Admissions and Records?

The Office of Admissions and Records (OAR) is responsible for processing applications and supporting credentials, student registration, maintaining academic files, and evaluating student credentials. Information about many of the services performed by the office can be found on this web site, using the index on the left of this page.  To view our mission statement, please click here.

Where is the Office of Admissions and Records?

The Director of Admissions and Records and most staff are located on the Wheeling campus, but staff are also located on the Chicago campus. On campuses without OAR staff, Student Service Representatives can assist walk-in students with many OAR functions such as registration and transcript requests.

General phone, fax, and email contact information can be found on our Contact Us! web page.

What is an NLU-provided email account?  Why is it important?

NLU provides every registered student with a personal email account. This email account is an official form of communication between the University and students. Students (other than those with a relevant ADA-certified disability) are responsible for checking their email account regularly.

How do I access my NLU-provided email account?

Go to http://my.nl.edu, and login using your user name and password. (Click on the "click here" link under How do I get a user name and password? if you are unsure about your user name and initial password.)

What is my NLU ID and how do I find it?

NLU has provided you with an NLU ID which is located in your secure account at http://my.nl.edu.  For your protection and rather than using your Social Security Number, it is expected that you will have this number available when you correspond with us.  Please email us here if you have any questions about the ID Conversion.

How do I add or drop classes?

Adding or dropping classes requires completing the appropriate form or written request.

More information can be found on our Registration page.

How can I obtain a copy of my grades?

Current and recent students can view and print a copy of their grades through their my.nl.edu account.

Former students should request a transcript.

How do I request a transcript?

Official transcripts are available upon request (if all financial obligations to the University have been met). All transcript requests must be made in writing, and the appropriate transcript fee must be included.

The request form and schedule of fees are located on our Transcript Requests page.

Current students may view and print an unofficial transcript through their my.nl.edu account.
