Technology in Education (M.Ed., M.S.Ed., C.A.S.)

Program Description:

The NLU Master’s and Certificate of Advanced Study in Technology in Education are designed to give you the skills and hands-on capabilities you need to integrate technology across the curriculum as well as to train other educators in the effective use of technology in the classrooms.

The master’s program, for teachers, resource persons and administrators at all grade levels (pre K-12), is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education for Technology Specialist (Type 10) certification.

How You Will Learn:

Technology in Education is taught using both cohort model and traditional on-campus registration. In the cohort model, you go through the program with the same group of 12-20 students in a pre-determined set of courses. In traditional on-campus registration, you pace your own course of studies. In both instances, the careful sequence of courses provides support and friendships of fellow students throughout the program.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to mentor, and provide assistance to pre K-12 teachers in the use of technology in the classroom.
  • How to assess the effectiveness of technology and determine the infrastructure needed to support it.
  • How to promote fair and equitable access to current technologies.

Where You Can Take the Program:

At NLU's campuses in Chicago, Elgin, Lisle, Skokie (North Shore) and Wheeling.
