- How can I become a teacher?
- If you have a bachelor's non-teaching degree, you would be interested in pursuing our M.A.T. in Special Education.
- What type of state certificate will I earn?
- You will earn certification as a secondary teacher by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- I am not a certified teacher in the state of Illinois. Can I still apply?
- Unfortunately, no. This program is not available to teachers who hold a certificate from another state or other specialized teaching certificate.
- What is student teaching?
- Students act as practitioners in a classroom setting and are monitored/mentored by an experienced, certified teacher and a university supervisor.
- What is a cohort?
- Cohorts consist of a group of 20 or less students who progress through the same program. Cohorts encourage group interaction and enhance the learning experience.
