Program Description:
The NLU doctoral program in Community College Leadership (CCL) prepares you to face the unique challenges found in community college settings and become a key leader at these institutions. Designed to give you the opportunity to continue to meet your family and/or work obligations, the three-year program includes a dissertation process that is integrated with your classwork. This program is offered by the NLU College of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with the National College of Education.
How You Will Learn:
Community College Leadership is taught using a cohort model, which means you will go through the program with the same group of 12-15 students. In addition to participating in class sessions every other Saturday during each term, you will also attend two summer sessions and your work will be supported through guided Internet study.
What You Will Learn:
- An understanding of complex systems and the role played by community colleges.
- How to apply theory to practice.
- How to utilize advanced, operational skills in strategic planning, fiscal management and technology.
Application Deadline Information:
- All application documents must be received in the Office of Graduate Admissions by April 1.
- Those meeting the requirements will be contacted for an interview with faculty.
- Notification of acceptance into the CCL program by May 1 or after the candidate’s successful interview.
- Due to the CCL program rolling admissions process, qualified students will be accepted after May 1st if seats are available.
