Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Commencement and Graduation? Many students believe that the terms Commencement and Graduation are one in the same; however, this is not true...

Commencement is a ceremony held in honor of the completion and/or in anticipation of your fulfilling all academic requirements. A student identified in the Commencement Program and/or participating in the Commencement Ceremony does not denote graduation from the University. Graduation, or degree finalization, is the process whereby the Office of Admissions & Records confers your degree and sends you a diploma upon completion of all academic requirements.
