Q. I've been away from National-Louis for awhile, but I'd like to return and finish my degree. How do I return?

Q. I am a student in an accelerated degree program (ABS, BSM, BSMIS, or HCL). What options do I have for completing requirements outside of my program?
A. Students in these programs have a variety of options for earning these requirements. This narrated presentation will provide some basic information on your options.
Q. When should I meet with an academic advisor?
A. This varies based upon your academic program:
- Accelerated program students (ABS, BSM, BSMIS, HCL) should meet with their advisor near the beginning of their program to develop a degree plan to make sure you have a plan in place for completing the requirements outside of the program. You should plan to meet again with an advisor as your program ends. You also will need to talk with an advisor each time you register for a course or other credit option.
- Students in our traditional programs will have to meet with an advisor each term to register for courses and make sure you are making progress towards your degree. Students persuing a degree in education will also need to meet with an advisor to discuss requirements and application deadlines specific to these programs.
- Students in Cohort groups in Education, Human Services, or Political Science will have their program courses scheduled by enrollment upon admission. However, you will want to see an advisor to register for any non-cohort courses and to make sure that you are meeting all requirements for your degree.
Q. Who is my academic advisor?
A. Your advisor will vary by campus and academic program. You will work with an advisor upon admission and it is best to continue to work with just one advisor throughout your time at NLU. Upon admission, you can contact the UAAC at 1-800-443-5522, ext. 5900 to see who your advisor is.
Q. How do I take a math course at NLU?
A. If you must take a math course at National-Louis, you must first take the math skills assessment. This assessment is give by our Center for Academic Development (CAD). The CAD has developed review materials to assist you in preparing for the assessment. It is recommended that you take the assessment at least two terms prior to the time that you wish to take a math course at NLU so that you can see if any developmental work is needed first. Review materials, testing dates, and other information can be found on the CAD website.
