Programs by Format

Some programs are not offered at all campuses.  Please be aware that the availability of a program at a certain campus may depend on the amount of interest in the program at that campus.  Enrollment Representatives can best answer questions about the availability of a specific program on a specific campus.  Contact an Enrollment Rep for your program of interest by calling 1.888.NLU.TODAY.

Cluster & Cohort Programs

National-Louis University offers another convenient program format called cluster or cohort. (The National College of Education calls these programs cluster while the College of Arts and Sciences calls these programs cohort.) Cluster/cohort programs are offered either on a campus or at a convenient off-campus location. Each cluster/cohort group is made up of 15-20 students who stay together during the duration of the program. These programs follows the academic calendar. The classes that are offered in the cluster/cohort programs are exactly the same as those offered in the on-campus format. However, when students join a cluster/cohort group, they pre-register for the entire sequence of courses in advance and know exactly which term these courses will be offered. Students take their courses at the same location throughout the program. In most programs, students take two courses one or two nights a week per quarter (summer sessions vary).

Advantages: Students pre-register for entire sequence of classes in advance, thus guaranteeing that courses can be taken in the correct order every term. Students meet at the same convenient location for the entire program, and they usually form close, lasting relationships with other members of the group. Tuition is fixed for the entire program as long as students take the classes with the cluster/cohort. A variety of tuition payment options are available.  For more information on clusters, please see the cluster website.

Field Programs

National-Louis University was one of the first universities to design and offer the accelerated field-delivery model in the 1970s. Accelerated Field programs were designed to bring the classes to the students. We are proud to offer accelerated college degree programs on-campus and at convenient off-campus facilities in a variety of locations. Each field group is comprised of 15-20 students. These students stay together during the entire program, and take classes at the same location for the duration. Field programs do not follow the regular academic calendar. Instead, they are offered in terms lasting approximately 15 weeks each. Most accelerated field programs contain 3-4 terms.

Advantages: Classes offered at convenient locations, especially for students who do not live near a campus. Students develop close, lasting relationships with classmates and faculty in field group. Field programs are an "accelerated" way of earning a degree.
