Young Community Leaders Program
Community change starts with you.
Violence. The homeless. Literacy. Dropout rates. You care about social change.
If you are a Chicago Public School high school student that cares about community, this program is for you. Help build a healthy community in National-Louis University’s Young Community Leaders Program.
We designed this program in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools Department of Postsecondary Education for smart, caring students just like you. It’s the first step to becoming a community leader who can make a difference.
If you are chosen as a Young Community Leader, you will
visit leaders who are making a difference in their community.
meet new open-minded friends.
work quarterly with a mentor who is involved in community change.
learn math, social science, fine arts, writing and literature skills that relate to community issues.
use your new skills in a service project for a local organization or community.
analyze your experiences and observations through reflection, discussion, journaling and presentation opportunities.
earn 40 service learning hours by the end of the program.
