I came from Taiwan, the Republic of China in 1990. During 1990-1994, I was the director of the Cultural Division of the Coordination Council for North American Affairs in Houston of the R.O.C. on Taiwan, and since 1994 until now, I have been the director of the Cultural Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago of the R.O.C. on Taiwan.
As the representative of the Education Ministry of the R.O.C. government, I am responsible for handling all affairs concerning educational and cultural cooperation and exchanges between Taiwan and the middle-western region of the U.S. My job requires me to travel a lot to visit cultural and educational institutes and leading personnel in the above-mentioned region.
During the past 25 years, I have been a career woman in the field of education, but most of the time working abroad. Before 1990, I had been the cultural attache of the then Chinese Embassy in South Korea and concurrently headed the Embassy Chinese Library and taught Chinese language in a Korean university for eight years.
Due to my long stay in South Korea, the Korean educational situation made a profound impression on me.
My husband was a professor and now is the principal of the Chinese Commercial and Marine Vocational Senior High School in Taiwan. My two daughters are now studying in the universities here in the U.S.
