Gwendoline James
Gwendoline James
I am a Guyanese, now residing and working in Jamaica, W.I. I am married for 30 years and am the mother of four daughters whose ages are 29, 27, 25 and 23 years old respectively.

My present employment status is that of Lecturer in the Division of Guidance and Counseling at The Mico College, in Kingston.

I began my teaching career in October 1966, counseling career in September 1974 and lecturing/tutoring in October 1981.
During my 35 years of teaching I have been exposed to a variety of experiences at the secondary school level, with disadvantaged youth and adult learning groups. This provided me with the opportunity of interacting with young people and adults in multicultural environments.

While at Teachers' College(Guyana/Jamaica), I have been actively involved in lecturing, supervising and tutoring which entail aspects of counseling and teaching young and mature adults. This now includes the supervision and field assessment of day and evening students who are being prepared to be Guidance Counselors upon completion of their training.

I have been involved in the teaching of adults for many years including The Cyril Potter College of Education for teachers, The Institute of Adult and Continuing Education of the University of Guyana, The Adult Education Association of Guyana and The National Drug Education Council.

I am now serving as the Secretary for the Jamaican Council for Adult Education (JACAE).
