I am currently employed by the Chicago Public School System as a school counselor for students in grades K-8 (523#). My position encompasses the following responsibilities: academic, personal, and career education for the students. I am also responsible for professional development and training for our staff members. A great deal of my time is also spent with counseling parents, teachers, and other staff members when needed.

Planning, organizing and promoting workshops for the parents that deal with discipline, communication skills, peer pressure, and other issues related to raising children is also another component of my duties. I am currently mentoring an undergraduate student intern who is interested in counseling.

The recruitment department of the Chicago Public School System has asked me to recruit students from New York University on March 7, of this year, which I will do. I recently received training for this initiative.

Education: I am currently in the MAT Program at National-Louis University. I graduated from Hunter College with a BS in Home Economics (Dietetics), and am a Registered Dietitian. I worked many years in nursing homes, hospitals, and with community agencies instructing adults on "best practices" health issues. I have worked as a Consultant Nutritionist with Cornell University's Nutrition Extension program. I planned, and developed the curriculum for the Bedford-Styansant Heart Healthy Nutrition Program, which was used when I instructed adult volunteers in the program.

Before accepting the school counselor's position, I worked as an adult education instructor with the Virginia Department of Correctional Education.

I am divorced, and have a 17 year old daughter (Sabrina ), who has been accepted by National-Louis for the fall semester. She works part-time at Blockbuster, and is on the honor roll and has perfect attendance.
