Who am I?
I am the daughter of Dutch immigrants who encouraged my love for reading and learning. I grew up in the Everett-Seattle area of Washington State. In December 1970 my husband and I were married We live in a small town 100 miles north of Seattle and 40 miles southeast of Vancouver, B.C. I have four adult children. I attended Christian schools through high school. In 1970 I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in nursing.
In 1992 I pursued my dream of a graduate degree by enrolling in the adult education program at Western Washington University. In 1994 I graduated with a M.Ed. in Adult Education and Administration.
What do I enjoy doing?
I enjoy traveling. Annually we make trips to the East Coast and to Palm Desert. Other activities I enjoy are reading, attending musicals, exercising, attending seminars, and volunteering.
Where have I worked?
I have not worked in paid employment since 1975. Volunteer and family activities fill my time. I have shared my love for learning as an adult Sunday school leader, women's Bible study leader, and a mentor for women. Currently the focus of my time is on the various marriage ministry programs which my husband and I co-facilitate. I volunteer as an apprentice group leader for college women at the INN ministry program for Western Washington University students. A special delight for me each week is the time I spend as a volunteer for a local organization, Brigid Collins House.
